Honeymoon Part 3: Hoi An, Vietnam

Hoi An Ancient Town has to be one of the most charming places I have ever visited and it was well worth the 17 hour overnight train journey to get there! It's an old trading port dating from the 15th to 19th century and so much of its history is beautifully preserved. It has a 16th-17th century Japanese bridge, old Japanese and Chinese influenced houses, temples and museums, a huge volume of tailors who can make anything you wish (I really had to show some serious restraint!) and some fantastic bars and restaurants. If any of you saw the Top Gear Vietnam episode it's the place where they sent floating lanterns down the river.

We did a home stay in Hoi An and stayed with an incredibly friendly family who cooked us some great food. Their house was right between the beach and the town and we hired bicycles to go between the two. We spend each morning going for an amazing breakfast of Eggs Florentine  pastries, fruit, juice and coffee which cost under £2.00 each followed by site seeing then we chilled on the beach each afternoon.  We only stayed two nights, but I could have happily stayed for a much longer. It was definitely my kind of place.

These huge coils are incense and they were hanging everywhere in this temple.

Could I pass for a Vietnamese girl?
