Honeymoon part 5: Sixth Senses Ninh Van Bay, Vitenam

So... this is finally the final instalment of our honeymoon and by far the most luxurious! This has been sitting almost ready to post for months! We stayed at Sixth Senses Ninh Van Bay, Vietnam after travelling around Vietnam with our backpacks for two weeks and after a few overnight train journeys I was more than ready for total relaxation. This resorts was straight out of a honeymoon brochure! It as the kind of place I have dreamed about for years. I hate modern, big, all inclusive type luxury hotels and much prefer something more rustic and private and this resort was perfect. I love the ways the villas blend into their natural surroundings and how each villa is very private and not at all overlooked. I was amazed at how much space each villa actually had. It would have been entirely possible to spend our time in the villa, getting room service and never seeing another guest. I'm not usually one for sitting on a beach day after day and I was worried that I would get bored spending the final week at this resort , but the opposite was true. It was such a beautiful and tranquil place that I never wanted to leave! We managed to fill our days with cycling around the resort, eating long lazy breakfasts, snorkeling  swimming in the sea, main pool and out private pool, sun-bathing, reading and lazing around, learning thai chi and Vietnamese cup massage, having a private barbecue and a romantic cruise. It was amazing and such a once in a life time experience.

It was perfect from the moment we got picked up from our previous hotel. The resort is only accessible by boat so we were taken to the resorts private departure loung where we had a special tea, crystallized ginger and a selection of magazines. We were then taken to the resort on our own private boat where we were met by the manager and out own private Butler, Len, who I cannot speak highly of. (Yes our own private butler - crazy eh?!!!!). Len took us for a tour of the resort in a little golf buggy (and was on call to take us anywhere for the rest of our stay) and then showed us to our Hill Top Villa. The villa was out of this world! We had a bedroom, a huge bathroom, a dressing room and then a separate room with a day bed. We also had our own sun-loungers and pool built into the rocks with views across the sea. It still doesn't feel quite real that we stayed somewhere so stunning. Anyway, half way through out holiday there was a bit of building work going on in a near by villa. I hardly noticed it, but out butler rang us up apologizing for it and offering us an upgrade to a rock pool villa. I felt that this villa was a little less private, but we moved and were right on the sea. We fell asleep and woke up to the waves crashing on the rocks so both villas were amazing in their own right.

We did a couple of trips whist at the resort. As it was our honeymoon we got a complimentary romantic cruise with sparkling wine and nibbles. We stopped at a lobster farm and I was such a girl! Phil held a giant lobster and I was too scared so they gave me a baby one to hold!  We also went on a private snorkeling trip which turned out to be pretty disastrous! We both got stung by a huge jellyfish within five minutes of entering the sea and spent the remainder o the trip feeling very sorry for ourselves!

The food was amazing! Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day and I was not disappointed! There was a huge selection. We had dinner at the main restaurant some nights, but also at our own private barbecue at our villa one night, a romantic meal on the jetty and an afternoon 'tea' as an evening meal!

We also so amazing wildlife. There were chipmunks everywhere, brightly coloured lizards, squirrels and beautiful birds. We even cam back to find five monkeys drinking out of our pool one day.

If you fancy a but of an unusual honeymoon destination then I really recommend this place!
